Understanding verb tenses in English

In English there’s a number of verb tenses and, when you’re learning it, you might get a little confused with their use, because sometimes they do not have direct translations in your language. That is not a problem. Verb tenses are tools that English speakers use to express time.

There are three main verb tenses in English: present, past and future. The present, past and future tenses are divided into four aspects: the simple, progressive, perfect and perfect progressive.
